Westerly Aviation is a locally owned flight training operation based in southern Rhode Island. We provide professional, safety-focused instruction for pilots from their first flight through advanced certificates.
We offer training for the Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Commercial Pilot License (CPL), as well as flight reviews, currency training, and ground instruction.
Aircraft rental is $130 per flight hour (wet). Instruction is $70 per hour for both flight and ground training. Total cost depends on training frequency and individual progress. Training more frequently (2-3x per week) will allow faster progress and reduce overall cost.
Most students complete their Private Pilot License in 3–6 months, provided they fly consistently two to three times per week.
No prior flight experience is required. Many students begin with zero time and are guided step-by-step through the process.
A medical certificate is not required to begin training. To solo and earn certificates, a
Third Class Medical is required.
A discovery flight is an introductory lesson where you fly the aircraft with a certified instructor, learn the basics, and ask questions about training and licensing.
Safety is our top priority. All training is conducted under FAA regulations with conservative weather minimums and structured lesson plans.
